The Time Trial Season closed with two events on the new 25 mile TT course on the old A1 between Baldersby and Leeming over successive weekends. The first event was the Huddersfield Star Wheelers 25 in windy conditions. Nova’s Duncan Mullier showed his exceptional end of season form with second place behind professional Ironman athlete Philip Graves with 56:16. Other Nova riders were super veteran Tony Kent 1:01:30, Roger Bromiley 1:04:34 and John Tiffany 1:08:56. YRCs Mike Shacklock recorded 1:06:24. Nova’s Joanne Ketteringham was third lady with 1:08:35. The following week in the YCF 25 conditions were better but the early start must have taken its toll. Mullier dropped to fourth with a slower time of 57:13, Tony Kent 1:03:01, Ian Peacock 1:05:19, Chris Mawer 1:05:50, Mike Shacklock 1:06:36, John Tiffany 1:10:48. Joanne was second lady with 1:08:50. The final standings for the 2013 Yorkshire Cycling Federation Points competition placed Mullier in third, behind Team Swift’s Robbie Krygsman (second) and Andy Jackson the new Champion. Nova look like being a strong TT outfit next season with the arrival of Steve Smales from Boneshakers, Richard Hamilton from Yorkshire Velo and Jess Bacon from Clifton CC. Nova’s top Junior was in hill climb action taking part in the Otley CC two stage hill climb event, which comprised a climb of the brutally steep Two Stoops near Glasshouses and then a one mile ascent of Norwood Edge. With timings down to a tenth of s second, Julian was edged out of being the top junior by just 0.9 of a second with a combined time of 9:46.9 in sixth place behind Seacroft Wheelers Keiran Savage.
